In early 2007 (from what I can tell) Eddie Uehara, a Las Vegas filmmaker and dancer, inspired a chain reaction of YouTube videos that have been popping up ever since.
I don’t really know a lot about Eddie himself, but what I do know is that he has stirred up something inside of many people. I guess you could say he has helped “reawaken” the passion inside those who love dance, and inspired them to express themselves and share their passion for dance with the world…well the YouTube world atleast.
Clearly his interest and talent in filmmaking is part of what makes his “Dance Quotes” videos so impactful…It helps to have a knack for editing and combining all the footage with sound etc… and of course that the film is better quality than many of the scratchy recordings that frequent YouTube.
But I also really enjoyed watching his freestyle dancing…he seems very connected with himself and the music to which he is dancing…although I don’t know if he would have been listening to the music at the time when he was dancing or if it was just added in post (production). Either way, you can tell he feels something when he dances, and that his dance is a form of self-expression.
The short About Me page on his website also conveys a centred, down to earth guy.

Here is another one I liked…is says it’s also Directed by Eddie Uehara, but it’s a little different. There are heaps of videos on YouTube - of varying quality - that refer to Eddie Uehara as their source of inspiration. Just go to www.YouTube.com and enter his name into the search box and browse through what comes up.
